WHOLE DEARTH CATALOG
Exhibition view METABOLICA, MQ Freiraum, Museumsquartier Wien, Vienna 2025-2026

WHOLE DEARTH CATALOG brings together sculptures made of PHB, produced by ANACLE via 3D printing, casting or thermoplastic modelling. Some sculptures, contained in bioreactors, are in transitional states of digestion and dissolution, including FROM HAND TO MOUTH and MOLLUSKE. In works such as AHEAD, PECKER or FINNEGAN’S WHALE, bacterial transformation has been suspended: without moisture and mi- crobes, as with conventional plastics, no decomposition takes place.
WHOLE DEARTH CATALOG is a linguistic variation of the Whole Earth Catalog, a countercultural magazine published by Stewart Brand between 1968 and 1972. Earth becomes dearth – a reference to the growing scarcity of resources and biodiversity. Through the etymological link to dear and dearness, the project seeks to address ecological scarcity and explore possibilities for political and economic change.
