TEA FOR KIRILLOV refers to a character in the novel "Demons" by F.M. Dostoevsky. The engineer Kirillov is obsessed with the question of free will and to prove it he decides to shoot himself in a deadly experiment.
In the installation, Kirillov awakens to new life and virtually continues his search for freedom and identity. Kirillov becomes an animistic spirit that lives in all things and becomes part of the Internet of Things. In the age of digital totality and AI, Dostoevsky’s narrative about the changes in society is updated.
The screen of the surveillance camera on the desk shows what is happening in the room and superimposes its own presence with the actions of virtual Kirillov, who among other things opens and closes drawers on his desk and wanders around the room.
